Finance pervades all areas of business management. Professionals from functional areas other than finance need to understand the basics of finance to take better business decisions and to evaluate the financial implications of their decisions. It is imperative for non-finance professionals to have a working knowledge of finance to better achieve the business objectives of their respective functional areas.

This program is aimed at enhancing basic financial understanding and skills of working professionals from areas other than finance. It is designed to impart a working knowledge of the key financial tasks and develop the ability to apply finance in business decision-making.

 

Objectives

The primary objective of the program is to enable managers from non-finance background to gain proficiency in understanding financial aspects and interpreting the financial impact of their KRAs. The goal is to acquaint the participants with the themes of financial management which are investing decisions, financing decisions and operational finance.

 

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to comprehend the applying the cost-benefit analysis of various alternatives to empower them in taking optimal decisions in line with their organizations’ vision. Participants will learn about financial tools and techniques that will provide feedback of the financial impact of their decision-making activities.

Programme Directors

 

Dr Rashmi Soni is Associate Professor of Finance and Area Chairperson of Finance and Law Department at K J Somaiya Institute of Management Mumbai. She is Ph D in finance and a Fellow of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (FCMA). She is in Management Education & training from last 22 years. She is alumnus of IIM Indore and  done faculty development programs from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kolkata and IIM Bangalore, Aston University UK. She is teacher, trainer and researcher. She authored two book and many research papers in leading international and national journals. She has organized and chaired many conferences and seminars. She has taken FDPs for undergraduate and post graduate faculties for teaching pedagogy and case study.

She is registered as research guide for Ph.D. students in Management in Pacific University Rajasthan and University of Mumbai. Two of her research scholars awarded PhD under her guide ship and some are working. She is Visiting Professor of Pokhara University Kathmandu Nepal.

She has conducted training programs in all areas of finance and accounts and cost management for various clients include Essar Oil, Anchor, Lubrizol, Seamec Limited, Kent Technology Pvt Ltd and many more.

 

Dr. Smita Ramakrishna is an Associate Professor in the Finance & Law department at K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management. Her experience in academics spans more than 2 decades. She completed her PhD from University of Mumbai. Her dissertation explores the role of commercial banks in the financial inclusion process. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a M.Com degree from the University of Mumbai. She has published papers in reputed journals and has also served as a reviewer for journals. She has presented her work at many reputed national and international conferences. Smita has conducted training programs for numerous reputed companies on various topics such as Financial Statement Analysis, Working Capital Management, Budgeting Process, Standard Costing & Variance Analysis and Decision-making processes. She teaches courses such as Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Corporate Finance and Management Control Systems. Her research interests include Corporate Governance, Corporate Finance and Financial Inclusion.
