The case is of a power transmission equipment company KEC International Ltd., an RPG Group enterprise, in India which has seen a nadir in its business operations and became financially unviable in 1999. It has been a prime participant in the growth of the Indian power sector earlier and it saw its role in being a major player in India‘s infrastructure growth. The company has weathered many storms during its six decades of existence. In the 70s a change of management happened when the Financial Institutions took over, and in 80s when the RPG Group took over. in 90’s the competitive landscape changed with the liberalization of the Indian economy as both the domestic and the international markets opened and with large orders coming its way, but it faced the challenge of poor performance in project execution and poor cash flows. The President must take upon himself a formidable task of making a turnaround and restore the company’s financially and making it a truly respected global corporation.
