K J Somaiya Vocational Training Institute opening a new  part time course in Multi Skill Technician

Mumbai: 3^rd October 2019: To keep pace with the technological demands of industry and expanding universe of knowledge, to produce skilled manpower at international level as well as they provide employment generation for students, K J Somaiya Vocational Training Institutue starts a  partime course in Multi Skill Technician at Somaiya Vidyavihar.

The  workshop commences on the  14^th October 2109, for a total duration of 11 months which includes 5 months of class room teaching and 6 months of Internship, covering a variety of courses, to fit each one's need meant for above 18  age groups. The course is for individuals to be able to become self-reliant and be able to stand on their feet.

The core cirriculum offered by the program includes:

• Maintain Safety at Workplace
• Clean and Maintain Utility at facility
• Maintaining Plumbing
• Maintain Electrical System
• Maintain HVAC System
• Monitor and Control Building Management System

With the help of dedicated teachers, the students  will get exposed to practical skills in Electronics, Air-condition system, Computer, Electrical, Welding and Plumbing. They will get hands-on experience & develop the ability to work independently and can be placed for employment immediately after completion of the training program.

 Speaking about the courses, Shaji Mathew, Principal, K J Somaiya Vocational Industrial Training Institute says “Vocational education and life skills are important in today’s world, and you can’t survive without them. Rather than complaining about the busted button or fan not working and waiting for the electrician or technician to come and fix the issues, learning the skills to solve the technical issues is the need of an hour especially the multiskilling is very essential, this is the 7th year when we are doing such courses, with each passing year we get more and more people interested in enrolling such courses and learn the life skills. It’s been a great experience with the students.” He further adds, “The institute has developed confidence among students and helped them to become successful in life. The success stories of many of such achievers are helping our existing students as role models.”

K. J. Somaiya Vocational Training Institute,now called as K.J. Somaiya Private Industrial Training Institute was established in 1988 to provide skill-based education and training to underprivileged students. Today we offer NCVT Affiliated and Autonomous Certificate Courses in trades like Plumbing, Welding, Electrician , Electronics Mechanics , Mechanic Air conditioner ,Domestic &Industrial Electronics  ,Computer Hardware and Network  amongst others. A few years ago, vocational courses were thought to be for people who did not have the aptitude to study in a college and thus, needed skills in a particular field, to gain employment. This scenario, however, has completely changed today. These days, people have realized their importance and are opting for such courses, both online and offline, to gain skills related to a particular field so that their job prospects can improve. K. J. Somaiya Private Industrial Training Institute started with a batch of 20 students and one autonomous program in the space of 150 square meters. Since then it has grown to a much larger institute housed in its own building measuring 1107 square meters and offering seven courses to more than 300 students. Our students are trained in different disciplines by trained and highly motivated teachers. Training periods range from six months to two years which includes both classroom lectures and hands-on practical training in well-equipped laboratories. With the step by step instructions and actual hands-on experience received, our students develop the ability to work independently and can be placed for employment immediately after completion of the training program. To make sure that the students soar high during their placements, we pay a lot of attention to the pre-placement talks and sessions which are focused on motivating the students to get the best out of their capabilities. Not only this, but we also promote entrepreneurship and self-starting environment to the students and always motivate them towards innovation and development.
