Programme Executive (Outreach Programme Coordinator)

Job Description

 

Qualification: Applicants must have a postgraduate in environmental science, communications, public relations, or a related discipline with an excellent track record on outreach activity during and after the academic years. Having Bachelor’s/Master’s in Education with a specialization in environmental education is preferable as one of the key roles involves co-designing Innovative Pedagogies to create unique rural immersion activities.

Required Experience:  Candidates who have sound knowledge of Sustainability Development with rich experience in community engagement and outreach program development having exceptional communication and managerial skills are highly preferred. Candidates who are enthusiastic about outdoor work and community development must apply.

Salary: Scale 6-8; Salary between INR 35,000- 45,000

The Programme executive must be proactive in networking with faculties and institutes within the Somaiya ecosystem (and beyond) in creating awareness and inculcating sustainability goals and practices.

1. Co-design, coordinate and implement short-term and long-term sustainability-focused experiential learning courses, programs, events, and workshops

2. Create a dedicated website/social page to document and update key Sustainability initiatives, programmes, projects, and activities within the Somaiya ecosystem

3. Identify funding opportunities, sponsorships, and fellowships for community engagement and outreach programs; monitor and document the progress of fellows

4. Prepare and manage budgets, allocate funds, and coordinate logistical support for center activities

5. Collaborate with internal and external organizations to strengthen campus connections and student engagement

6. Organize regular outreach events, including science fairs, expert talks, Navriti, STEAM learning, summer/winter school programs, and stakeholder engagement forums

7. Generate technical reports and summaries of CASCADE’s activities

8. Actively participate in the university's SATAT initiatives and STAR ranking

9. Promote outreach efforts and network through social media engagement and marketing

Key Skills

Must have excellent communication skills- a document with brevity and speak with clarity – and possess a research acumen

A genuine passion for sustainability, a personal commitment to environmental conservation, a strong willingness to bring positive impact, and inherent talent to be updated on Sustainability trends

Experience in program management, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of outreach initiatives. The individual should have the ability to develop and execute strategic plans, coordinate events and workshops, manage budgets, and track progress toward program goals.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders are essential. This includes working effectively with community organizations, government agencies, businesses, and other partners to create collaborative sustainability initiatives.

Must be a patient listener and creative to develop quick adaptable approaches during dynamic sustainability challenges.

Must possess cultural sensitivity to understanding and respect diverse cultures, values, and perspectives is crucial when engaging with different communities.

Must be ready to mentor team members and think out-of-the-box.
