The program is designed for working professionals to navigate the shift from managing basic supply chain disruptions to achieving strategic transformation. In today’s interconnected global economy, supply chain networks (SCNs) face increasing complexity and interdependency, leading to "ripple" or "butterfly" effects where a single failure can quickly impact the entire system. This MDP provides participants with a comprehensive framework to evaluate and enhance a network's absorptive, adaptive, and restorative capacities.

Objectives of the Program

• Understand the Mechanics of Disruption: Analyze how structural designs and planning parameters influence the propagation of risks.
• Master Risk Classification: Learn to categorize risks by predictability versus criticality and implement tools like Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Develop Diversification Tactics: Evaluate sourcing strategies such as "China-plus-one," reshoring, and multi-sourcing to balance cost and resilience.
• Enhance Operational Excellence: Learn to transition from Just-in-Time (JIT) to Just-in-Case (JIC) models and integrate digital tools for risk visibility.
• Strengthen Network and Distribution: Identify and manage global chokepoints and develop carrier contingency plans.
• Integrate Resilience into Finance and Strategy: Understand the costs of realignments, currency risks, and how to institutionalize agile business models.

Program Outcomes

• Resilience Assessment: Participants will be able to quantitatively describe a supply chain's status using six key metrics: reliability, preparedness, responsiveness, persistence, resourcefulness, and recovery time.
• Network Optimization: Ability to identify structural bottlenecks and design scale-free network structures that offer quicker recovery times.
• Brand Protection: Capability to manage high-risk suppliers and implement effective auditing programs to prevent reputational harm.
• Strategic Agility: Competence in conducting stress-testing and using AI-powered early warning systems to anticipate disruptions.

• Module 4: Manufacturing Resilience: Exploring Flexible Manufacturing Networks (FMN), cybersecurity, and production redundancy.
• Module 5: Purchasing and SRM: Focus on Supplier Criticality, contractual resilience, and risk sharing.
• Module 6: Distribution and Trade Compliance: Managing the 14 critical global chokepoints and navigating GATT, FTA, and Sanctions lists.
• Module 7: Financial Resilience: Commodity price risk, currency hedging, and the financial impact of forecasting errors.
• Module 8: Strategic Planning: Conducting supply chain design audits and building stress-tested agile business models.

  Professor and Head of Department – Operations and Supply Chain Management

  Chitresh is a seasoned professional with 6+ years of corporate and 10+ years of academic and administrative experience. He currently works as a Professor at K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management. Before that, he was a professor at Jindal Global Business School and Deputy Controller of Examinations at Jindal Global University. He has previously worked with MNCs such as Deloitte India and Lee Harris Pomeroy Architects PLLC (USA; SGI Consulting), etc. He has worked as a consultant for multilateral donor agencies such as DFID, the World Bank, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. A researcher with 25+ research papers, Chitresh has also received multiple international research grants. He has also written for national-level English newspapers such as The Indian Express, The Statesman, and Deccan Herald.
