Introduction

In this epoch of hyper-digitalization, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data is generated every day. However, only 0.5% of this data is being used. There is a need for transforming this data into actionable insights with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Google Studio. Using the right kind of data and solving the right kind of problem is necessary. This requires a human-centric, disruptive, innovative approach which is data storytelling.

 

Objectives

The program's primary objective is to enable participants from various backgrounds to gain proficiency in data visualization, the art and science of changing data into readable graphics. The program focuses on designing and creating data visualisations and reciting a story using the captured data.

 

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to understand fundamental problems, concepts, and approaches in the design and analysis of data visualization systems. They will be made familiar with the stages of the visualization pipeline, including data modeling, mapping data attributes to graphical attributes, perceptual issues, existing visualization paradigms, techniques, and tools, and evaluating the effectiveness of visualizations for specific data, tasks, and user types.

Programme Directors

 

Dr. Sanjiwani Kumar is a passionate academician with 20 years of experience. Presently she is working at KJ Somaiya Institute of Management, Mumbai, as an associate professor and Area Chairperson of the Business Analytics Department. She is a throughout rank holder in mathematics in Graduation and science and Management postgraduate. She also has a doctorate in management from SNDT University. She has completed her “Postgraduate diploma in Integrated program in Business Analytics” from IIM Indore. She has received the Academic Excellence Award in 2013 From Somaiya Trust Mumbai. India.

With her keen interest in Research, she facilitates subjects like Advanced and Basic Business Research, Data Analytics, Business Statistics and Big data analytics. She also delivers a Research methodology course of Mumbai University, SNDT University and Somaiya University for PhD students. She is a recognised PhD Guide at Somaiya Vidyavihar University and a Reviewer for various reputed research Journals.

Dr. Sanjiwani has published and presented national and international research papers in the research forums, like International Journal of Applied Finance and Banking, Journal of Medical Marketing and Review of Integrative Business and Research. Dr Sanjiwani has conducted several Business research modules for INS Hamala, Mahindra and Mahindra to name a few.

The field of Business analytics is dynamic, and she continuously updates her skill set with the ever-evolving tools and Technology on Tableau, R studio, Python, JMP(SAS), SPSS, MINITAB, and MEGASTAT, MATLAB.

 

Dr. Prerna Manik Mahindroo works as an Assistant Professor in the Business Analytics Area with K J Somaiya Institute of Management since 2014. She is a rank holder in Graduation (B.Sc. Honors Mathematics), Post-Graduation (M.Sc. Operational Research) and M.Phil. (Operational Research). She facilitates courses on Business Statistics, Basic and Advanced Business Research Methods, Operations Research, Social Media Analytics and Quantitative Methods.

She has a Doctorate Degree in Operational Research from the University of Delhi. She has publications in B and C-category journals (ABDC list) and has published over 20 research papers in international journals and proceedings of international conferences. She is a recognized Ph.D. Guide at Somaiya Vidyavihar University and also serves as Associate Editor for the journal Business Perspectives and Research (BPR), Management Journal of K J Somaiya Institute of Management, ‘C’ Category (ABDC list), UGC approved, and Scopus Indexed biannual refereed journal.

She is on a reviewer panel for various reputed research journals. Dr. Prerna has conducted several corporate training programs for INS Hamala, Mahindra and Mahindra to name a few. To remain up-to-date and relevant in the ever-evolving field of Business Analytics, she continuously updates her skill set with new tools, languages and software like Tableau, R Studio, Python, JMP (SAS), SPSS, AMOS, MINITAB, MEGASTAT, MATLAB, etc.

 

Mr. Dhaval Thanki, has more than 18 years of experience in the digital, analytics, tech & SaaS space. He’s worked with companies like Wipro Technologies, CNBC, Directions and Cartesian Consulting. He was also the founder of Quantas, a tech & analytics firm that offered digital solutions to clients like ICICI Securities, Tata Sky, Inmobi, Saregama, Lawrence & Mayo. He was also the co-founder of Gappmob, a no-code mobile app development platform. Currently, he heads the Asia Pacific & Middle East business for LogiNext - World’s leading logistics automation SaaS platform. He is skilled in Strategy, Business Development, Product Management, Digital Marketing, Analytics, Retention Marketing, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to name a few. He completed his MBA in Marketing from K J Somaiya Institute of Management, University of Mumbai and completed his graduation in Electronics Engineering from RAIT, University of Mumbai.
