Being a student at KJ Somaiya Institute of Management and pursuing finance has been a truly a transformative journey. I have completed my graduation from NMIMS University, Mumbai in BBA. Being a covid batch I never had the right amount of exposure and connections. KJ Somaiya gave me ample connections, opportunities and scope of learning to be industry ready. This helped me get an internship at Apollo Global Management and with the skills I developed in first year, I was able to outperform the students of other colleges and get a PPO. Even though I have been an average performer academically, the opportunities at KJ Somaiya never bifurcated me on that criteria. I was never a person who would join co-curricular activities but now I am the co-convenor of Admissions committee and this wouldn't have been possible without the support of faculties, seniors and my batchmates. There is so much to learn from everyone present on the campus. My college life started as a blank slate and now I am happy to have filled it with great memories and experiences.

My journey hasn't been without its challenges. As a former civil services aspirant, I faced intense competition, long, often isolating study hours, sometimes exceeding 18 hours a day. The uncertainty of success, financial dependence, and social isolation were significant hurdles, leaving my future clouded with doubt. However, K J Somaiya Institute of Management offered me a second chance to reimagine and rebuild my career. KJSIM handholded me, the faculty here made me industry ready with initiative likes ken & economists, case study competitions, committee participation, careers and conversation. The pedagogy here has industry-academia linkage which made me confident while i sat for the placements. The alumni network is so strong that they are always ready to help. The skills I’ve acquired here during MBA, combined with my drive for achievement, have been pivotal in this journey. I went from feeling isolated to being embraced by a community of faculty, seniors, and peers whose encouragement validated my efforts and pushed me towards new heights. At KJSIM, the focus is transformative learning rather than just chasing placements. By following this approach, i ranked 4th in the Student progression index which is an initiative taken by KJSIM to map the holistic development of students. I got placed in German based Investment Bank on the first day of the placement cycle. KJSIM is not an ordinary B-school, we are not just taught how to lead a successful business but also how to lead in life.
